Dog-Friendly Beaches in Lyme Regis
Luckily here in Lyme we have a whole host of amazing beaches to chose from to find the perfect place for a four-legged adventure!
We even have some spots that are dog-friendly all year round, so for an off-lead wander do check out Monmouth Beach, Church Cliff and East Beach below to find the perfect spot for you and your pooch.
On the main sandy & pebble beach by Marine Parade dogs are permitted off-leash on this beach between the 1st October and 30th April. It’s sheltered by the harbour and does not get covered at high tides, you’ll often spot swimmers out braving the waves all year round! Due to it’s central location it’s a great spot to grab a coffee from Kiosk or (weather permitting!) an ice cream from Mollys whilst you explore with your four-legged friend!
Church Cliff Beach: A small stretch of beach that although covered at high tide, unearths some wonderful rockpools once the tide recedes. It’s a mix of sand, pebbles and rocks but dogs are allowed off-lead here all year round!
East Cliff Beach: Our favourite spot for a fossil hunting adventure, this beach lies eastwards and extends out towards Charmouth. It’s easy to reach, simply heads east and walk along the sea wall before descending to the beach. Dog’s are allowed off-lead all year round, so if you wanted to combine a fossil search with a pooch walk this is the best spot. Access is limited during high tides so do check the tides before venturing out!
Monmouth Beach: Located on the Westward side of Lyme Regis, this is a pebble ridge beach that evolves into rocky outcrops the further west you go. It has a wonderful view of the Cobb and is also a fossil hunting spot. Dog’s are allowed off-leash all year round!
